Work/Life Balance
a constant work in progress!…
A better Work/Life Balance was a main driver behind becoming a Reflexologist and the more clients I meet, the more I realise the value of taking back control and finding your balance.
One beauty of being self-employed is being able to make the most of a sunny afternoon and take a walk in the lovely Devon countryside and even find a hedge wide enough to hide from the liquid sunshine!
Making jams and chutneys, using the my Mum’s French copper pan, is a delight of later summer and autumn. The glass of wine is an optional extra!
I’ve been fortunate to visit some amazing places in recent years with my husband. Using my Ranger skills honed on nature reserves in Devon, Scotland to spot birds and other wildlife in more exotic places including the rainforests of Costa Rica and the plains of the Serengetti.
Growing fruit and veg and encouraging wildlife to enjoy my garden too, though I’m yet to beat the pigeons to a cherry and I have to get up extra early to pick my blueberries, to outwit the blackbirds!
Being a Reflexologist is a slightly less physically active job than I have been used to, so to help me to keep fit and learn a new skill, I joined the Seoirsin School of Irish Dance in March 2025. It quickly became a highlight of my week, meeting a lovely bunch of beginner dancers, laughing a lot as we learn!
I was fortunate to work on a number of nature reserves in Scotland, including the one at the bottom of my garden in St Cyrus!
I’ve always enjoyed learning new things, especially when I can read sitting in the sun with a cup of tea!
